I am having a lot of fun working with the Crate Paper Hello Love Collection and I knew I wanted to use it on this layout. I always look forward to sketches with more than one photo so this was great. I am scrapbooking 2 very similar pictures of my boys taken in 2010. They were headed to a Valentine’s Day Party at their Daycare center. All of the papers I used were from the Hello Love Paper Pad with the exception of black cardstock.  The Happy Valentines Day Sentiment Sticker is from an old American Crafts Sticker sheet, I backed that with 2 layers of velum.

I brought in some red mulberry paper that has been in my stash for about 10 years, so that was fun to finally use up.

To finish it off I added a few puffy hearts from a Walmart puffy sticker sheet and a few strips of black corrugated paper.

Victoria Marie DT: Sketch Challenge

My lovely teammate Megan & I are co-hosting this weeks challenge on the Victoria Marie FB Group. This week we are following an awesome sketch that Megan found on Pinterest. The sketch is from the Elle’s Studio Blog. In addition to following the sketch we are also challenging our members to use Valentines Day colors in their layouts.

12670596_10153995929577764_6699685875133381980_n

For this layout I am working with the Crate Paper Hello Love Collection. I began with some gesso in the background to tone down the bold stripe patterned paper. I then layered my papers and fussy cut the hearts from one of the sheets from the paper pad to replace the triangles at the bottom of the sketch. I then added some Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain in Cracked Pistachio to the background. I added a few die cuts from the Maggie Holmes Shine Ephemera pack, American Crafts Foam thickers and a few Puffy hearts and stickers from my stash.

The Crafty Maven Getaway: Art Party Friday

Hello Friends. I was on The Crafty Maven Getaway Channel this past Friday with a Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout. On The Crafty Maven Getaway we have a weekly Inspiration board. This is the one I followed this week:
12715570_1675020099440148_7943920989350124930_n

I loved the blues in this peace and the pop of red. I decided to recreate the look of the sky and the water in the photo I was scrapbooking. The photo was taken in St. Marteen this past summer. We took a week long cruise and this was one of the beautiful stops. I used some acrylic gloss medium to create some texture, my idea was to create the look of waves and the ocean. I used some spray mist in three different shades of blue and created an ombre effect while mimicking the photo. I added a few pops of red with some simple embellishing and a border around the whole page. I really love how this turned out.

Scrapbook Process: Sparkle & Shine

I am a member of quite a few of the Scrapbook Related Facebook groups. I love the inspiration and interaction with other wonderful Crafty ladies. This month two of the groups I belong to, The Pink Camera Community and Scrapbook like a Superhero are both hosting Valentines Day themed challenges. The challenge itself is to use hearts on your layout. I decided to scrapbook a picture of my adorable niece.

FullSizeRender-4

I used some heart rub ons on the left hand side of my white cardstock. I then created a messy frame for my photo using some Faber Castell Gelatos which I mixed with some water. I tried to keep this layout nice and simple so I did some simple layering using a few sheets of paper from the Crate Paper Notes and Things 6×6 paper pad. I added some flat enamel dots and jewels from my stash.  I also used a Cork Bow from the Dear Lizzy Documentary Collection.

FullSizeRender-5

For my tittle I used a few word puffy stickers from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge Collection. I added two sheets of paper from a DCWV Paper pad as a frame for my layout. As a finishing touch I added some silver sequin stars scattered around in a few areas of the page. In the end the layout was exactly what I envisioned. Soft, Pretty, Light and airy.

Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 3

Hello friends! Christy & I are back with our third episode of Obsessed using the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection. This will be the last episode for this Season using the Shine Collection. For the next three episodes we will be using the Dear Lizzy Documentary Collection. Christy chose the four papers we used for this week. I loved the dominance of Black and White in her selection. I knew that would be interesting to work with. Besides the papers we also had a recipe challenge to use on this layout. Our Layout Recipe Included:  Mixed Media, Washi Tape, Twine, 2 pieces of chipboard and two types of thickers. The photo I am scrapping is one taken on New Years Eve 2016.

FullSizeRender-3

I debated whether or not to use one of the patterns in this weeks paper selection as my background. I decided to go with a white background. I wanted to bring in some texture and color to the background so I used the Mini Cubist Stencil by The Crafters Workshop. I used the stencil in two different ways. First, I used some white Modeling Paste over the stencil in a few scattered areas on my page. Then I used the same stencil and traced the small squares with a thin black Sharpie pen. I added squares until I was happy with how it looked. I then colored on the squares and randomly added pinks and yellows around the squares, that covered the mixed media. I used the three black & white papers to matt my photo. I added some black and white wash strips in three spots and a few hearts and the word together from the Chipboard Pack. I then added a few pieces from the Maggie Holmes Shine Ephemera Pack. I brought in the twine to two of the tags. For the two types of thickers I used the thickers from this same collection The Detail Thickers as well as the Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

I really love how this layout turned out. I hope you do too. The process video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfGrtUNd3Rw

Sketch N Scrap DT Card Sketch #67

This months first card sketch is #67 by the very talented Mandy Reedyk. The first thing that caught my eye was the vertical design of this sketch. I was also really drawn to the cluster of circles vertically lined up on one side of the card. This design is very pleasing to the eye. I was very excited to create my card.

IMG_3639 (2)

This sketch was perfect for a Valentines Day Card. For this card I wanted to create a fun, non traditional Valentines Day Card. I began with black recollections cardstock as my base. I used a Momenta Chevron embossing folder to create some texture on the front layer of my card. I then took a scallop circle punch and punched out two circles which I made into shaker pockets. I then filled those pockets with fuchsia and gold sequins. I added a few additional circles that I punched out of black cardstock as well as velum. I brought in some more gold with the Studio Calico Gold Doilies and the chevron circles I punched out of a sheet from a DCVW Gold Foiled Velum 6×6 Pad. I stamped a few hearts in different sizes on the velum paper using Memento Dew Drop Ink pad in Lilac Posies.  I used the same ink and a wooden block stamp to stamp my sentiment. I them fussy cut the bigger hearts and my sentiment. For the smaller hearts I used a small heart punch. As a finishing touch I took a white gelly roll pen and a black thin point sharpie pen and created faux stitching lines around the hearts and one of the circles.

I am very happy with how my card turned out. I’m pretty sure that this is the card I will give to my boyfriend this Valentines Day. Make sure you head on over to the Sketch N Scrap Blog for fun Card and Layout Sketches every month.  There are also fun giveaways each month and to be entered you simply have to create a layout or card following one of the four sketches provided each month. 🙂

Katty–You are here. 🙂

For today’s blog hop you should have arrived here from Ka’s Blog.  I hope you had a chance to look around Ka’s Blog. She is very talented and makes beautiful cards.

For today’s project I created a 12×12 layout using a recent photo of my adorable niece.

image

I was anxious to use the goodies Jody sent me in my Design Team package. I started off with white cardstock. I began with the Shimmerz Dazzlerz Texture Paste in the Sour Apple color. I had never worked with Shimmerz products before and as soon as I opened that container I was hooked! The shimmer of the product is amazing. It is so pretty.  I can’t wait to get a few more colors. I used a floral stencil to create a circle in the center of my page with the Shimmerz Paste. I then created a few layers with velum and the White Lace Paper Doilies. I painted the doily that is right behind the picture with pink gelatos. For the second layer which is a piece of velum I dipped the edges of the velum with the Shimmerz Paste and created a pretty shimmery border. The third layer was also velum which I painted with gelatos as well. For the final layer I folded the white doilies to add some additional texture.

image

I also knew I wanted to use the Studio Calico Printshop Wood Veneer Circles with the adorable sentiments. I took some gelatos and water colors to paint them. I kept the color scheme for this layout in the pinks, greens and hints of yellow & gold. Everything else on the page is neutral. I also brought in some cork, which is one of my favorite products to work with. I added a few of the Chunky cork hearts and Chunky Stars  to the circle I created around my photo. I then added the Cork chevrons in all four corners to draw your eye to the center of the page. To finish off the layout I added some ink splatters in Gold, green and pink and to add just a bit more shimmer I added some of the Gold Garland Sequin. I felt the page needed a border so I added a yellow border with some patterned paper from my stash.

image

This layout was so fun to make. All of the amazing products found in the Spiegelmom Scraps store can be paired with your favorite collections, some of the new sequin blends go perfectly with a lot of the new lines revealed at CHA 2016.  As you can see from my layout, I didn’t even need to bring in any other collections, I was able to create my layout using mainly  Spiegelmom Scraps products.
