My Creative Scrapbook- March 2017

00fullsizerender

Hello friends! I am back to share the layouts I created with the March 2017 Main Kit. This kit featured the Jen Hadfield Simple Life Collection as well as some other fun goodies. This collection was filled with beautiful florals and this kit was so fun to work with.

The first three layouts I created with the kit were all masculine ones. This kit really lent itself to both masculine and feminine color schemes. For my first layout, I followed the exclusive sketch that My Creative Sketches provides each month. They also provide Cut files every month for our kit Subscribers. There is a Video Tutorial on my channel for this one if you’d like to watch.

The second layout was also a masculine one. I played with a little mixed media and a lot of the ephemera.

For the third layout, I wanted to play with the stencil that was included in the kit. I also added the beautiful lace that came in the kit. Even with the lace I kept the color scheme very masculine. These colors and ephemera pieces were the perfect embellishments for this small photo of my father.

By the fourth layout, I was ready to use the beautiful pinks and florals included in this kit. I love the combination of this fun hexagon wood grain and the pink polka dot paper.

Of course I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to fussy cut these beautiful flowers from one of the patterned papers. I also used the stencil and stamp set that was included in the kit to create this fun layout.

This was such a fun kit to work with. I only wish I had more time to create more layouts with it but I will definitely put all of the leftover goodies to good use on future projects.

My Creative Scrapbook- February 2017

00fullsizerender

Hello friends! Welcome back! I am very excited to have been asked to join the My Creative Scrapbook Design Team. In February 2017, I was technically a Guest Designer, however, I was asked to stay on the team. The February Main Kit was absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed working with it. It featured the Simple Stories Posh Collection, which is one of my favorite collections of all time and the Hazelwood One Canoe Two Collection.

I was able to create 6 layouts with the kit. I’m sure I can still create at least three more. There were so many fun papers and embellishments included in the kit.

For my first layout, I used the exclusive cut files available to Kit Subscribers. There is a Video Tutorial on my channel for this layout, Click here to watch it.

My second layout was a lot of fun to create. I used some mixed media, which is something I love to incorporate in my layouts. I love the way this one turned out. There is also a Video Tutorial on my channel for this one. Click here to watch.

I had this adorable picture of my nephew to scrap. I pulled all of the Blues and greens in the kit and created this layout. I also followed the exclusive sketch available to Kit Subscribers. To watch my Video Tutorial for this one, click here.

One of my favorite things to do is fussy cut. Any time I have beautiful florals or small images on a patterned paper, I love to cut them out and create my own design with them. These butterflies and florals from the Hazelwood Patterned Papers were perfect  for this picture of my cat, Pyramid in our yard. There is a video for this one as well. Click here to watch.

I fell in love with this colorful patterned paper from the Hazelwood Collection. I love it paired with the diagonal stripe black and white border. I fussy cut the florals fro one of the patterned papers and the feathers are from the exclusive cut files as well.

Lastly, I had some fun cutting out different size frames and layering them for this layout. It came together very quickly and I love how it turned out.

This was a fun kit to create with. I hope you’ll check out My Creative Scrapbook. They have four different monthly kits available.

Shimmerz Paints: Cherish These Moments

Hello friends! I have another layout up on the Shimmerz Paints Blog. I had so much fun creating this layout. I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe which I modified a bit and I used a few chipboard stickers from the new Crate Paper Heart Day Collection. These were the perfect embellishments for this layout. The background paper is from the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa Collection. It added the perfect background for my layout. I love mixing different collections. Pretty Patterned Paper Playground-January 2017

Hello friends! It’s a new year and Evi and I are back with our Pretty Patterned Paper Playground Series. I love the January Mood Board. I love that we’ve included some shades of purple. I have been noticing shades of purple in recent collections. I love that. I think purple is often overlooked in scrapbooking. It’s sad really. The right shade of purple can really add a lot to a collection. I’m happy to see it’s making an appearance. I really love these purples mixed with the navy.

img_4621

Evi and I attended a crop with a few Scrappy Girlfriends in January. We thought we’d take advantage and record our video there. It’s always so nice to catch up with scrappy friends and see what projects they are working on. It’s great to have a room full of crafty girls. If someone is stuck on a project or can’t decide which direction to take then there will always be someone there to offer their opinion. We had a great time. You can check out the video here:

We also post a video every month of us scrapbooking apart, still following our mood board for that month. We post on each others channels. You can find my video on Evi’s channel here:

Smile-Spiegelmom Scraps

Hello friends! Welcome back. The Spiegelmom Scraps Sparklers have teamed up with Accent Scrapbooking  and we have a fun product swap, Accent Scrapbooking is a fun flair badge shop. Today we are working with some awesome flair badges. You should have arrived here from  Khristina’s  blog.  I loved her layout. Be sure to hop along and comment for a chance to win an awesome prize.

Here’s the full line up:

Katty Miranda– You are here 🙂

The flair set I am working with has 4 badges in fun bright colors. I knew I wanted to use the flair badges in a different way, I decided to create large flowers and use the flair badges in the center. To create my flowers I used an old flower stencil with my Shimmerz Dazzlerz on some White American Crafts Textured Cardstock. I chose colors that matched the flair badges, I used  Grapetastic, Pucker up Pink, Gummy Berry Blue,  and Lemon Drop Yellow. I then used a baby wipe and blotted the texture paste to create some more texture. Taking advantage that the Dazzlers take a while to dry I used them as adhesive for the flair badges and the sequins I used around the edges of the flowers. I used the purple and blue sequins from the Sweet Pea Mix, the yellow ones from the 2 Cool 4 U Mix and the pink flowers from the Pocket full of Posies Mix. I love how they turned out.

fullsizerender-85

Once dry, I cut them out and added a border of patterned paper in coordinating colors. I used papers from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the same papers and punched out small circles, I used those circles around my 3 photos which I had also cut into circles. This make it look like the photos have a flower around them.

fullsizerender-86-copy

I arranged all of my flowers on a 12×12 sheet of White American Crafts Textured Cardstock. I also used the Pink Paislee foam word thickers for my tittle as well as some foam hearts which I scattered around.

fullsizerender-87

I added a strip of a pink Pink Paislee Patterned paper to the right had side of the layout, I also used a Scallop border punch along the edge of the white cardstock. To finish it off I scattered around some of the yellow sequins from the 2 Cool 4 U Mix.

I love the way the layout tuned out. I love how the flair badges look. It turned out pretty simple but I love it.

You are Here Layout- Stash Bash YouTube Hop

img_4710

Hello everyone! I was invited by my friend Christine to join her and a few other ladies in a fun monthly YouTube Hop. Each month we plan to focus on a specific item in our stash. The idea is to use up as much of that item as we can and hopefully make a dent in our stash. This month our focus is on Stickers.

We crafters and scrapbookers tend to collect a lot of things, we love to buy what is new and trending hence leaving the “old” behind. After years of crafting, you end up with this huge stash. This challenge is a great opportunity to use up some of those items.

I decided to use the Simple Stories You are Here Collection. I have already used a ton of this collection.  However I had a lot of the stickers that I had not used. I pulled out the 12×12 Sticker sheet and the 12×12 Alpha Sticker sheet. My goal was to use as much as I could. This collection has been perfect for scrapbooking my Hawaii trip from 2016. Today I am scrapping a photo from that trip. It is a photo of me and my two boys in front of Waimea Canyon in Kauai, Hawaii. Kauai was one of the stops our cruise ship made. I have to say it was one of my favorites. We rented a car and drove out to Waimea Canyon. It was absolutely beautiful. We had a lovely day. I only wish we could have spent a few more hours there exploring.

I used a sketch I found on Pinterest by Kristine Davidson as a starting off point.

llfullsizerender

I used several patterned papers, all from the You are Here Collection, I also used the 3×4 & 4×6 cut apart sheets as layers and to punch out the hexagon shapes. I added some brown cardstock behind all of the hexagons.

I embellished using only stickers. I was so happy to have used up the majority of the stickers on the 12×12 sticker sheet. I added dimension to some of the stickers by adding fun foam to the back.

Even my tittle is from the sticker sheet. I added fun foam behind that as well. I added some enamel dots in coordinating colors as a finishing touch.

hhhfullsizerender

I absolutely love how this turned out! I was so happy with the amount of stickers I was able to use up. I can’t wait for next month’s challenge.
