Celebrate Good Times with Friends

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a layout I made just because. LOL. It seems that lately all my  layouts are either team assignments or for one of the series I have on my You Tube Channel with my scrappy friends. I was Inspired by the November 2016 mood board I created for The Pretty Patterned Paper Playground, my group with my friend Evi. I love the soft neutral colors with the pop of navy. I am scrapbooking a photo of a group of my good girlfriends. We were at a Birthday brunch for my friend Christy. I decided to print the photo in black and white .

I decided to use the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection. The colors worked perfectly. I chose a beautiful light blue plaid for my background, the back was an even more beautiful pink floral. I decided to use both. I trimmed off the top left and bottom right corners and flipped the paper over creating page corners. This way I’d have a bit of both patterns. I then took the 6×6 Paper Pad and chose a few patterns from there. I layered strips of the different patterns in both page corners.

I used the same pink floral paper, this time from the 6×6 pad and used that to mat my photo. I also used a thin mat of black. I also added photo corners to my photo with one of the polka dot patterned papers. I do not have the ephemera pack for this collection only the Sticker Sheet. I used a unicorn sticker which I raised up on fun foam and that sits next to my tittle. I also used one of the patterned papers from the 6×6 pad which has strips of unicorns on it. I added one strop under my photo and the other up top above my tittle. For my tittle, I used a mix of fonts, this is something I love doing. The word “Celebrate” is using the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection thickers called Petals. The word “good” was also using some older Dear Lizzy Pink Glitter thickers. The word “friends” is Amy Tangerine.

The word “Times” is from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills collection puffy sticker letters. For “with” I used the gold letter stickers from the Gather sticker sheet.

I scattered around a few stickers from the gather sticker sheet as well as some of the ephemera pieces from the Indigo Hills ephemera pack. I then finished it of with some

I love how it turned out. I am seriously loving long mixed font tittles lately.

For my project I created a 12×12 layout. I began with white cardstock and some of my Dylusions paints. I created blocks of color using the colors London Blue, Vibrant Turquoise and Fresh Lime. I also used a Prima checkerboard stencil with the Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Sea U in the Mornin over each of the color blocks. I then trimmed off about 1/2 an inch from each side and matted my whole layout with a 12×12 black and white patterned paper called Elsie from the Maggie Holmes Bloom Collection. I used a sample paint chip which I got at my local home depot which has several shades of turquoise and used that to mat my photo along with some dark grey cardstock. I then took the fun Cloudy Day Felties and colored some with the Dylusions London Blue and some with the Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Sea U in the Mornin. I added those to the top right hand side of the layout.

For my tittle I used a mix of the black Pinkfresh Studio Felicity foam thickers and the mini October afternoon letter stickers from the Land and Sea and the Sea and Sails collections.

I added a couple of black chipboard stickers from MAMBI to the bottom right of my photo. My goal for the next few months is to use up my wood veneer. I picked out three Bycicles and 2 potty people from Studio Calico and painted them using the Dylusions paint in Vibrant turquoise and Fresh Lime. I also added an Arrow and painted that with London Blue.

As a finishing touch I used black india ink to crate splatters in two areas of the layout and added some Basic Grey enamel dots as well as some of the blue sequins from Rasberry Daisy Dream Sequin Mix. This was a lot of fun to create.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Sketch #103

Hello friends! I am back with another project for the Sketch N Scrap Design Team. The sketch I am following today is Sketch # 103 by Mandy Reedyk. I love using three photos on this layout. It is a great sketch.

I decided to scrap three photos from a Lego Festival I took my boys to in December of 2014. All of the papers I used with the exception of the red one that I punched out circles with are from the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection. The red piece was in my scraps.

Foe my tittle I cut out the numbers from a sheet of paper from the Maggie Holmes collection and the red thickers are called Oakleaf by Thickers. I also brought in a few chipboard circles which are in a chipboard pack by MAMBI called Mambi Sticks.

This was a lot of fun to create. Thanks so much for spending some time with me today. Be sure to check out Sketch N Scrap for tons of inspiration and awesome sketches.

Sketch N Scrap DT Sketch #100

Hello friends! It’s an exciting month over on the Sketch N Scrap Blog. We are celebrating the 100th layout sketch. This wonderful sketch is by Lisa Hidy.12694532_10206069504321534_6716212004990113638_o

I absolutely love that this sketch calls for 3 photos. You could even use 2 4×6 photos if you don’t have 3. I decided to use these 3 photos of my boyfriend and I. We celebrated my 30th birthday this past November on three occasions. Each picture was taken at a different event and location. I decided to use The Maggie Holmes Styleboard Collection for this layout. I love the colors in this collection and had a lot of fun layering all of the fun patterns in this collection. I fussy cut the flowers from the blue patterned paper and the yellow circles were punched out with a circle punch from a sheet in the collection as well.

For my tittle I used Dear Lizzy Snapshots Thickers and Gold thin Thickers. I used the Amy Tangerine Memento thickers add the “30” in the top cluster.  I finished it off with some black Basic Grey enamel dots.

This was such a fun Sketch to follow. I truly love how my layout turned out!

I hope you’ll join us on the Sketch N Scrap Blog for special events happening in the month of March! If you play along you’ll be entered to win a fun prize.

Thanks so much for stopping by! XOXO -Katty

Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 3

Hello friends! Christy & I are back with our third episode of Obsessed using the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection. This will be the last episode for this Season using the Shine Collection. For the next three episodes we will be using the Dear Lizzy Documentary Collection. Christy chose the four papers we used for this week. I loved the dominance of Black and White in her selection. I knew that would be interesting to work with. Besides the papers we also had a recipe challenge to use on this layout. Our Layout Recipe Included:  Mixed Media, Washi Tape, Twine, 2 pieces of chipboard and two types of thickers. The photo I am scrapping is one taken on New Years Eve 2016.

I debated whether or not to use one of the patterns in this weeks paper selection as my background. I decided to go with a white background. I wanted to bring in some texture and color to the background so I used the Mini Cubist Stencil by The Crafters Workshop. I used the stencil in two different ways. First, I used some white Modeling Paste over the stencil in a few scattered areas on my page. Then I used the same stencil and traced the small squares with a thin black Sharpie pen. I added squares until I was happy with how it looked. I then colored on the squares and randomly added pinks and yellows around the squares, that covered the mixed media. I used the three black & white papers to matt my photo. I added some black and white wash strips in three spots and a few hearts and the word together from the Chipboard Pack. I then added a few pieces from the Maggie Holmes Shine Ephemera Pack. I brought in the twine to two of the tags. For the two types of thickers I used the thickers from this same collection The Detail Thickers as well as the Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

I really love how this layout turned out. I hope you do too. The process video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfGrtUNd3Rw

Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 2

Hello Friends! In case you are not familiar with Christy & I’s Obsessed series, we chose a favorite collection, in this case we’re using the Maggie Holmes Shine collection. We chose 4-5 sheets of patterned paper to work with each week. We post our videos on our You Tube Channels every other week. For the second week of our Obsessed series using the Maggie Holmes Shine  collection Christy & I decided we’d turn to Pinterest for inspiration. Christy found a lovely layout which we later found  was created by Ida Rosberg & you can find her amazing work on her blog Hey Little Magpie.

When a collection has so many beautiful patterned papers it is very difficult to chose just a few to use.  We ended up choosing these 5.

My favorite thing about these collections is how well all of these papers coordinate. I did use all of the papers we chose and decided to mimic the vertical design that Ida used in her layout. I absolutely loved following this page design and it truly did inspire me.  I just love how my layout turned out.

Not only was I able to use up pieces from the 5 sheets of paper that we chose for this week but I was also able to use up a ton of pieces from the Ephemera Pack and Chipboard Sheet. For my very long tittle “Remember the Goals for 2016” I used the “Remember” from the Ephemera Pack, the “the” from the Gold Glitter Foam Thickers, the “Goals” from the Detail Chipboard Thickes and the “2016” I cut out from one of the 5 sheets of paper which is called Memento. Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 1

Maggie HolmesbloggggIf you follow my You Tube Channel you may have previously seen my friend Christy & I’s  “Obsessed with Katty & Christy” series. Our first series aired in Fall 2015. We are both huge fans of Maggie Holmes so for our first series we featured the Maggie Holmes Open Book Collection, one of our favorite collections of all time. Every other week we’d create a layout with specific sheets of paper from that collection and we’d have a challenge to follow as well. This year our series has returned and this time we are using the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection. Our first episode aired today, Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Christy & I each have a video up on our You Tube channel. My video can be found on my Channel: Katty Miranda. Christy’s video can be found on her Channel: Christy’s Beautiful Life. For this layout I chose a photo taken this past Christmas day of me and my two boys. The picture was taken Near Park City, Utah which is where we stayed during our Vacation. Besides the four sheets of paper that we had to use on this layout our challenge was to follow a sketch and incorporate wood veneer. The sketch is from the Sketch N Scrap Blog which I am a Design Team Member of. On my layout I also added a few other papers from the same collection as well as those lovely colorful thickers from the chipboard sheet. The white chipboard letter thickers are also from the Shine Collection.  Thanks for stopping by. XOXO -Katty
