Victoria Marie DT: Pocket Fun

I am very excited to be hosting my very first challenge for the  Victoria Marie Facebook Group Design Team. This weeks challenge and the first of it’s kind for the year is Pocket Fun.  I have created an Inspiration board with images from Pinterest to help inspire the Victoria Marie Facebook group members to join me in creating Pocket page spreads. To the left is the Inspiration Board I created and to the right is the pocket page spread I created.

I absolutely love to use pocket pages. I do not do Project Life so my main use for the pocket pages is for my vacation scrapbooking. As most memory keepers I usually snap hundreds of photos while on vacation. If I were to make a 12×12 layout for all of those photos I’d probably need to rent a house for my scrapbooks alone. What I will usually do is chose one or two of my favorite photos for each day of my trip and then the rest of the photos I will insert into Pocket Pages. Here is an example of what I mean. This is the layout I created for this challenge side by side with the 12×12 layout I made a few months back. They will sit next to each other in my album just like this.

As you can see I was able to use 12 photos on this double page spread. I really love how this turned out. I really like the colors in the Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers Collection. The fun bright blues and yellows were perfect for my photos. I also incorporated a few pieces of the Pink Paislee Atlas Ephemera Pack, some travel themed foam stickers from The Little Yellow Bicycle, Jolees airplane embellishments and American Crafts Cork Hearts. This was a fun spread to put together. There is a process video on my You Tube channel if you’d like to watch. Here is the link:

Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 2

Hello Friends! In case you are not familiar with Christy & I’s Obsessed series, we chose a favorite collection, in this case we’re using the Maggie Holmes Shine collection. We chose 4-5 sheets of patterned paper to work with each week. We post our videos on our You Tube Channels every other week. For the second week of our Obsessed series using the Maggie Holmes Shine  collection Christy & I decided we’d turn to Pinterest for inspiration. Christy found a lovely layout which we later found  was created by Ida Rosberg & you can find her amazing work on her blog Hey Little Magpie.

When a collection has so many beautiful patterned papers it is very difficult to chose just a few to use.  We ended up choosing these 5.

My favorite thing about these collections is how well all of these papers coordinate. I did use all of the papers we chose and decided to mimic the vertical design that Ida used in her layout. I absolutely loved following this page design and it truly did inspire me.  I just love how my layout turned out.

Not only was I able to use up pieces from the 5 sheets of paper that we chose for this week but I was also able to use up a ton of pieces from the Ephemera Pack and Chipboard Sheet. For my very long tittle “Remember the Goals for 2016” I used the “Remember” from the Ephemera Pack, the “the” from the Gold Glitter Foam Thickers, the “Goals” from the Detail Chipboard Thickes and the “2016” I cut out from one of the 5 sheets of paper which is called Memento. Sketch N Scrap DT Layout Sketch #97

My first layout sketch for the Sketch N Scrap Blog Design Team is Sketch #97 by Kelly Holifield. I love this sketch. You can very easily use a 4 X 6 or a 5 X 7 photo with this sketch. I chose to use a 5 X 7 photo from my 2015 Summer Vacation. The photo was taken using my Selfie Stick on the second day of our Cruise which made a stop in St. Thomas. I knew I wanted to use fun colors and patterns for this layout so I went with one of my favorite collections, the Dear Lizzy Serendipity Paper Pad.

I layered several different patterns and backed them all with Recollections Navy Blue Cardstock which I purchase at my local Michaels. Unfortunately I don’t have any coordinating embellishments for the Serendipity Collection but I made my own using one of the cut apart sheets that come in the paper pad as well as some ribbon with Navy Blue Anchors from my stash. I also used some random embellishments from my Stash, the Sunglasses Button , Basic Grey Enamel Triangles, and some Jewel Starfish Embellishments which I purchased at Joann Fabrics a while back. For my tittle I used the Amy Tangerine Memento Thickers. I finished it off with some splatters using Lindys Stamp Gang Merci Beaucoup Mint Spray Mist.

This layout was a lot of fun to make. Make sure you check out the Sketch N Scrap Blog for awesome Sketches and tons of Inspiration. There is also a process video for this layout up on my You Tube Channel:

Sketch N Scrap DT Card#65

Hello friends, I am very excited to announce that in 2016 I will continue  as a part of the Sketch N Scrap Blog Design Team. Sketch N Scrap is a Sketch Blog that provides monthly card and layout sketches free of charge. They even host a monthly challenge, any one that plays along with our sketches and links their project to the blog is entered to win a fun prize. There is one winner per month. My first project for this term is Card Sketch# 65 by Kelly Holifield. This sketch is absolutely adorable. Being from Florida I don’t get to use my Winter themed stickers all that often so this card was perfect to use up an adorable Snowman and Snowflakes from a Sticko Christmas Sticker pack and pretty silver Snowflake Paper which I’ve had in my stash for quite some time. I stamped the Believe Sentiment on two layers of velum which I then snipped the edges of and made into a banner. This card was a lot of fun to make. I hope you will all join us and play along with this months sketches. Be sure to also visit & follow the Sketch N Scrap Facebook Group for up to date information, inspiration and fun sketches. Thanks for stopping by. XOXO -Katty

Obsessed with Katty & Christy: Season 2 Week 1

Maggie HolmesbloggggIf you follow my You Tube Channel you may have previously seen my friend Christy & I’s  “Obsessed with Katty & Christy” series. Our first series aired in Fall 2015. We are both huge fans of Maggie Holmes so for our first series we featured the Maggie Holmes Open Book Collection, one of our favorite collections of all time. Every other week we’d create a layout with specific sheets of paper from that collection and we’d have a challenge to follow as well. This year our series has returned and this time we are using the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection. Our first episode aired today, Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Christy & I each have a video up on our You Tube channel. My video can be found on my Channel: Katty Miranda. Christy’s video can be found on her Channel: Christy’s Beautiful Life. For this layout I chose a photo taken this past Christmas day of me and my two boys. The picture was taken Near Park City, Utah which is where we stayed during our Vacation. Besides the four sheets of paper that we had to use on this layout our challenge was to follow a sketch and incorporate wood veneer. The sketch is from the Sketch N Scrap Blog which I am a Design Team Member of. On my layout I also added a few other papers from the same collection as well as those lovely colorful thickers from the chipboard sheet. The white chipboard letter thickers are also from the Shine Collection.  Thanks for stopping by. XOXO -Katty

Happy New Year 2016

Can you believe how quickly 2015 has gone? It seems like only yesterday I was celebrating New Years Eve 2015. I was scheduled on the first of January on The Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel and I knew I wanted to create a project inspired by the lovely inspiration piece which reminded me of New Years Eve. The color scheme of black, silver, gold and pops of red really screamed New Years to me. I had a photo from last years New Years Eve that I hadn’t scrapped and I thought it was just perfect. Being that January 1st was a Friday, I had to follow that days theme which is Art Party Friday. I used Pearlescent Water Colors , Gelattos, Art C Molding Paste  and  Amy Tangerine Stencils to create a Firework inspired background for my photo. It is always fun to use mixed media and create fun, unique backgrounds for my Scrapbooking Layouts. Thanks for stopping by, May 2016 be a fantastic year. The Process Video for my layout can be found at The Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel IMG_3527001
